TORONTO, Feb. 27, 2013 /CNW/ - The Sugarbush Maple Syrup Festival, the
GTA's longest running maple syrup celebration, kicks off this weekend!
The festival has been bringing sweet family fun to thousands of
visitors to discover the magic of traditional and modern maple syrup
production while exploring the many facets of maple syrup in a fun
festival atmosphere with live entertainment, Maple Syrup Walks,
samples, and pancakes to enjoy!
The five-week festival takes place from March 2 - April 7, in two
locations just north of Toronto at the Kortright Centre for
Conservation in Vaughan and Bruce's Mill Conservation Area in
Stouffville, just east of Markham. For the past 45 years, the festival
supports the work of Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA) to help
people understand, enjoy and look after the environment in the Greater
Toronto Area.
Festival entertainment includes daily activities at both locations:
maple syrup demonstrations, syrup sampling, pony rides and horse-drawn
wagon rides (extra fees may apply to some activities). Throughout the
day both locations will have family-friendly activities and
entertainers including face painting, balloon artists, and Clog dancing
demonstrations.
On weekends and March Break, there will be hour-long guided maple syrup
walks where visitors can see how maple syrup is made and learn about
the history of this Canadian tradition. Festival goers can indulge in
pancakes with pure Canadian maple syrup, hot chocolate, hot apple cider
and lots of maple sugar treats available for purchase at the Sugarbush
Shop.
Both locations will be open daily during March Break and Easter Weekend
with activities for families looking for fun outdoor activities and
programs.
One sweet treat of this year's Maple Sugarbush Festival is the Maple
Syrup Dinner at Kortright Centre for Conservation on Saturday, March
23. Lamplight will be used to illuminate the evening's Maple Syrup
Dinner. Guests will feast on a Maple Syrup themed dinner specially
created for the event. For bookings please call 416-667-6295 (Mon -
Fri, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm).
