Axine Water Technologies Receives Funding From the Government of Canada

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 4, 2012) - Axine Water Technologies, developers of a low-cost, breakthrough solution for treating toxic organic pollutants in wastewater, today announced that it has secured a financial contribution of up to $240,000 from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP). The funds will be used to advance development and commercialization of its technology and solutions including durability testing and lab-scale process optimization. "We are very pleased to receive this funding from NRC IRAP, as well as their expert technical advisory services. This will help us advance our technology to potentially solve some of the most pressing and persistent challenges in industrial wastewater," said Jonathan Rhone, Axine President & CEO. "NRC IRAP has provided tremendous support to Axine and continues to help advance innovative, made-in-Canada clean technologies that will improve the performance and impact of traditional industries such as oil and gas, mining, and manufacturing, while also creating investment and export opportunities for the country." Axine's proprietary electrolytic oxidation technology is designed to treat high concentrations of toxic organics, as well as biodegradable organics, ammonia, and pathogens in a single step without using chemicals and without producing sludge. By taking a novel approach to electrochemical oxidation, the Company achieves a step change improvement in performance, lower cost, and lower energy consumption vs. incumbent organic treatment equipment. Axine is initially focused on developing applications in oil and gas and other heavy industries where its technology can be integrated into existing wastewater treatment plants to improve performance and reduce cost. The Company's longer-term vision is to incorporate the technology into the design of new wastewater plants to displace conventional biological, chemical oxidation, and other traditional wastewater equipment with a single process step. About Axine Water Technologies Axine has developed a low-cost, breakthrough solution for treating toxic organic pollutants in wastewater. Our proprietary electrolytic oxidation technology treats high concentrations of dissolved, toxic, non-biodegradable organics, biodegradable organics, ammonia, pathogens, and some inorganics in a single step without requiring chemicals and without producing sludge. This technology enables customers in a range of industrial and municipal markets to significantly reduce the cost and improve the performance of their wastewater treatment.
