Georgia-based aluminum roller Novelis has won a Climate Leadership Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Ten companies, including Novelis, were honored at the Climate Leadership Conference in California from February 24-26, 2014. Other honored companies in the GHG category were:
Specifically, Novelis was acknowledged for demonstrating leadership in managing and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in internal operations and throughout the supply chain, as well as integrating climate resilience into its operating strategies
“Novelis has made great strides in reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” said Janet McCabe, acting assistant administrator for the EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation. “Their commitment to reducing carbon pollution demonstrates that efforts to address climate change are repaid by saving money and energy, while supporting more livable and resilient communities, and a healthier, better protected environment,” she added.
This achievement aligns with Novelis’ overall disruptive sustainability strategy and goal to achieve 80 pre cent recycled inputs across product lines. As you may know, this strategy is designed to not only lower its own carbon footprint, but also that of its customers.
