Mississauga firefighters were surprised to find butane lighters and insecticide spray cans when they responded to an alarm call on April 23, 2014, especially when the former industrial warehouse was empty during its last fire code inspection.

Upon entry, an explosion seriously injured four of the firefighters, one critically. The blast was so strong that it severely damaged a nearby fire truck, according to reports from the scene.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but investigators from the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office are on scene.
