Lac-Megantic business owners are getting a $37-million boost from the Quebec government, following the 2013 train derailment that devastated the downtown core.

Municipal Affairs Minister Pierre Moreau made the announcement at a news conference, noting there would be an additional $23 million given to Lac-Megantic for rebuilding efforts.

Business owners in the local area, which was engulfed in flames from volatile fuel oil, had expressed concern that financial support wasn’t coming fast enough.

Forty-seven people died in the July 6, 2013 derailment.
