How does this sound? Enjoy a networking BBQ on the picturesque Toronto waterfront after industry experts just gave you the latest scoops on the Canadian brownfields scene. Cap that off with a private tour of a major Toronto remediation project, and you have one solid outing.

The success of last year’s inaugural Brownfields event makes for a welcome return of the day-long forum Brownfield Redevelopment: Policy, Planning and Practice.

On June 18, 2014 at the Waterfront Campus of George Brown College (Queens Quay East and Lower Sherbourne St.), join the Canadian Brownfields Network, ERIS and HazMat Management, as they host a dozen environmental experts who want to keep you up-to-date on remediation trends and challenges by sharing their own experiences in the industry.

Expert guests for the 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. event include representatives from Waterfront Toronto; Imperial Oil; Ontario Ministry of the Environment; Golder Associates; Green Municipal Fund; Evergreen; Blaney McMurtry LLP; Marsh Canada; Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP, and more.

     KEYNOTE: Geoffrey Cape, CEO, Evergreen

As founding CEO of Evergreen since 1991, Geoff has been focused on the development and acceleration of good ideas that advance Evergreen’s mission – to create greener, more sustainable cities. With a background in real estate development, sustainability and urbanization trends globally, Geoff helps to evolve Evergreen programs to offer leadership solutions for cities and citizens.

In addition to a moderated panel discussion, this special event offers regional updates on brownfields development across Canada, plus a chance to learn about the interaction between the Ontario Building Code and the Ministry of the Environment’s Brownfield regulation.

This year’s event also offers a private hard-hat and boots tour of the East Bayfront redevelopment project. The project began in 2005 through Waterfront Toronto, an organization that has its hands full preparing sites for the 2015 Pan Am Games.
