At the 15th Environmental Business Journal’s (EBJ) 2012 Business Achievement Awards ceremony, the 15th in a series, the EBJ honoured Enerkem with a Technology Merit Award in the Waste Management category.

These awards recognize growth and innovation by industry leaders in the environmental sector, and Enerkem was acknowledged for beginning the production of ethanol from waste at its demonstration plant in Westbury, Quebec.

On February 13, 2013, the Association pour le développement et l’innovation en chimie au Québec (ADICQ – the association for the development of the chemical industry in Quebec) awarded its 2013 Florian-Bonnier prize to Enerkem. Since 2001, this award has been acknowledging the development efforts and economic impact of Quebec-based companies. The award was named in honour of the first president of the Association, who was a tireless advocate for the development of Quebec’s chemical industry.

“We are very proud that our technology and the efforts we are deploying to stimulate the economy, develop the manufacturing sector and create high-profile jobs are being recognized and rewarded in this manner by the industry. We find that such tributes truly encourage us to continue building on our momentum”, declared Vincent Chornet, President and CEO of Enerkem.
