DHL Supply Chain recently unveiled the launch of a new environmental services offering -- DHL Envirosolutions.
With organizations under considerable pressure to maximize the efficiency of their operations and meet increasingly challenging environmental targets, DHL Envirosolutions aims to help businesses reduce their existing carbon footprint and boost their bottom line.
DHL Envirosolutions, an innovative waste, recycling, compliance and energy efficiency service, aims to help businesses generate impactful efficiencies across organization's operations in order to minimize their carbon outputs, as well as utilize current waste streams for the financial benefit of the organization.
The unit operates a fully managed nationwide service, from traditional waste management and recycling through integrated back-haul and customer take-back programs.
DHL Envirosolutions is licensed to handle any form of waste material, from bulk recyclables to dangerous and hazardous waste. Its services range from supervised and scheduled collections to ad-hoc and on-demand capabilities, each tailored to specific client requirements.
Organizations from all sectors have started to realize the potential for generating revenue from waste streams such as recyclables, while at the same time working towards meeting their environmental and sustainability targets.
For example, JD Wetherspoon, one of the largest free house chains in the U.K., has worked with DHL Supply Chain to generate carbon emissions savings of more than 11,000 tonnes of CO2 and a cost saving of around £150,000 per annum on landfill tax in the past year.
Similarly, the organization has recently undertaken a project with a leading international airline to reduce the volume of its waste by 83 per cent and generate a reduction of over 3.5 tonnes of CO2 per annum from the airline's waste disposal processes.
"By working closely with our existing customers, we recognized the potential opportunity for businesses to financially benefit from their waste," says Jos Daalhuizen, business director of DHL Envirosolutions. "DHL Envirosolutions is already working with a number of high street names to help them navigate the complex legislative environment, while also delivering cost savings to their business. Reducing landfill waste is no longer just about meeting legal requirements; it makes business sense. As DHL Envirosolutions extends its offer in this space, we will continue to develop increasingly innovative ideas that challenge the industry norm, and help businesses maximize the efficiency of their operation."
DHL Envirosolutions has recently partnered with The Guardian's Sustainable Business Blog to launch a hub dedicated to the latest in waste and recycling news.
