U.S. demand for filters will rise 3.6 per cent annually to $14.5 billion by 2018, a new market report has found.

The motor vehicle market will remain the largest filter segment, with a projected 27 per cent share by 2018, as vehicle emission standards become increasingly strict. However, demand for filters in the industrial and manufacturing market will see the largest increase in the filter market, with growth of 4.5 per cent annually through 2018. Pollution control and consumer demands for quality of indoor air and home tap water supplies are expected to drive the market forward.

Filters are installed in a wide range of equipment and vehicles as original equipment, however, replacement or aftermarket demand accounts for the vast majority of filter sales.
