Connecticut-based SCS Engineers has announced veteran HazMat figure Dan Johnson as its new Environmental Services Practice Leader.

The southwestern U.S. Consulting/Engineering Operations includes SCS engineering and consulting offices in California, Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico, as well as client projects in Utah and Colorado.

“We believe Dan Johnson’s leadership will provide us with the greatest opportunity for growth and expansion of our practice,” said Pat Sullivan, director of Southwestern U.S Consulting/Engineering Operations in a January 14, 2013 statement to media.

Johnson has 30 years’ experience providing environmental assessments and remediation services. He is a nationally recognized expert in brownfields and is well known for helping clients find practical solutions for hazardous materials issues related to real estate transactions and developing on contaminated properties.

Johnson’s experience includes over 2,000 projects involving Phase I environmental site assessments, subsurface investigations, soil and groundwater remediation, redevelopment of brownfields sites, and regulatory agency liaison and negotiations.

“Mr. Johnson has strong credentials in strategic planning, marketing, and business development, along with a great business acumen, which are key criteria we seek in a leader,” Sullivan added.

Johnson will oversee a staff of over 60 technical and administrative professionals and have top and bottom line responsibility for the environmental services consulting and engineering practice in the southwest. Mr. Johnson will also lead strategic planning and market expansion planning for the environmental services group.
