Enerkem has shared a few photos of its Edmonton facility inauguration held June 4, 2014 in Alberta. Some 10 years in the making, it’s the company’s first full-scale municipal waste-to-biofuels and chemicals facility, and one of the world’s first commercial facilities to be built for the production of renewable chemicals and advanced biofuels.

More than 160 people participated, including government representatives, industrial groups, partners, municipalities, etc. Also in attendance were the Alberta minister of Environment and Sustainable Resource Development Robin Campbell, Alberta Energy Minister Diana McQueen, Mayor of Edmonton Don Iveson and President of Enerkem Vincent Chornet, who gave inspiring speeches before the official ribbon-cutting. You can watch the webcast of the event at this link.
