Burst oil pipe keeps LA enviro clean-up crew busy

Los Angeles clean-up crews are busily sopping up the remains of some 10,000 gallons of crude oil that spouted from a burst oil pipe early on May 15, 2014.

The above-ground oil pipe ruptured near San Fernando Road, a major road in LA.

Early reports from the scene suggest little concern that oil may have entered any nearby sewer drains, although the oil did shoot upwards about 20 feet into the air.

An environmental clean-up crew is using absorbent materials to sop up the remaining crude, and then using high-pressure hoses to wash the streets with a soap solution.
